This yields 1,080 horizontal lines (pixel rows), sent to a TV alternately (referred to as an interlaced signal). chansaetMember Since: July 31, 2003Posts: 6195chansaetFollowForum Posts: 6195Followed by: 0Reviews: 2 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#12 Posted by chansaet (6195 posts) - 9 years, 4 months ago if your TV is a CRT 1080i if your TV is Plasma or LCD 720p yourbeliefsMember Since: December 19, 2005Posts: 247yourbeliefsFollowForum Posts: 247Followed by: 0Reviews: 5 Stacks: 0Forum Karma: 0#13 Posted by yourbeliefs (247 posts) - 9 years, 4 months ago I've used 720 and 1080 (p and i) and I really can't notice much of a difference. 1080p: What's the Difference? 1080i vs. unused. .. Some processors do this very well, and some don't.Final TakeWhat all these numbers and processes mean to the consumer is that there is really no such thing as a 1080i LCD, Plasma, or DLP TV. Technology never stands still, of course. But most consumers don't really see a marked difference until at least a 42-inch screen, if not larger. My 1080P Samsung was actuall $3,000 thank you very much.

TV without getting eye strain now. It's still technically HD, and still looks better than standard-definition cable, but it's not as good as it could be. This will be more noticeable on incoming 1080i signals as the TVs processor only has to scale the resolution up to 1080p or down to 720p (or 768p), but also has to perform a task called "deinterlacing".Deinterlacing requires that the TV's processor combine the odd and even lines or pixel rows of the incoming interlaced 1080i image into a single progressive image to be displayed at least every 60th of a second. With just a few exceptions, 720p TVs have been relegated to screen sizes 32-inches and smaller - in fact, you will find a growing number of 1080p TVs that screen size or smaller as well. For more on 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, read my additional articles: 720p vs 1080p and 1080i vs 1080p.DisclosureE-Commerce Content is independent of editorial content and we may receive compensation in connection with your purchase of products via links on this page. 1080p video is called "progressive scan." In this format, 1,920-by-1,080-pixel high-definition movies are progressively drawn line after line, so they're not interlaced.
